A Study on the Effect of Hydraulic Retention Time on the Fermentation Performance and Recovery Quantity of Fermented Residue in Anaerobic Fermentation of Swine Manure

Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of hydraulic retention time(HRT) controlling anaerobic fermentation on fermentative performance and recovery quantity of fermented residue containing nutrients. The HRTs on the pilot-scale
anaerobic
fermentation systems were 15 days and 12 days. The fermented residue was divided into two parts; 1) solid part of effluent, and 2) liquid part of effluent.
As a Result the removal rates of the total solids(TS) and volatile solids(VS) in two treatments were 51.3%, 47.83% and 54.73%, 51.34%, respectively. The removal rates of the total phosphorus(TP) in two treatments were 47.87%, 42.91%,
respectively.
In
process of anaerobic fermentation, the concentrations of total nitrogen(TN) of effluent in two treatments were 2053 mg/I and 2235.3 mg/I respectively. The concentration of total nitrogen of effluent was higher than that of influent. The rates of
BOD
removal were 95.13%, respectively. The gas yields in two treatment were 360 I/§©/day and 999.6I/§©/day, respectively. The methane contents in two treatment were 60% and 58.91%, respectively. The recovery quantities after sieving and then
centrifuging
were 0.84kg/day and 3.96kg/day, respectively.
